Optimised for sustained performance.
High benchmark scores are easy. Sustained performance under real workloads is harder.
StarFighter
A Linux-first workstation engineered around configurable firmware, real hardware controls, and long-term ownership — with direct support from the people who build it.
Intel Core Ultra and AMD Ryzen configurations.
Built as a complete system
Workstation performance
The StarFighter is tuned for compiling, virtual machines, containers, and sustained workloads — with firmware, thermals, and power behaviour engineered for consistent high performance over long sessions.
Not a gaming laptop with Linux added afterwards, but a workstation designed as a complete Linux system.
High benchmark scores are easy. Sustained performance under real workloads is harder.
Power profiles, fan behaviour, and thermal limits can be adjusted directly in firmware for tighter control over acoustics and performance.
The invisible bits, made visible
Firmware configuration, updates, and platform integration are developed in-house by a small UK-based team working close to the coreboot and EDK II ecosystems.
The result is a shorter path from firmware to Linux desktop: configurable controls, signed updates, measured boot, and development that stays visible over time.
Linux without vendor drivers
The StarFighter is designed around standard Linux behaviour, so modern distributions work normally — without vendor driver bundles, patched installers, or custom workarounds.
Install the distribution you want, reinstall later if you choose, and keep using the standard Linux ecosystem.
Star Labs standard Linux path
Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, Arch, and other modern Linux distributions are supported.
Use the standard installer and update process from your chosen distribution.
No driver packages, hidden recovery accounts, or vendor utilities required.
Ownership built into the hardware
The engineering philosophy is visible in the hardware: physical controls, replaceable parts, and security features that remain accessible over time.
Disable wireless hardware directly.
Enable hardware-backed disk encryption without reinstalling.
Fan, power, security, and boot behaviour configurable before Linux loads.
Cooling, storage, and components designed to remain accessible.
Integrated system design
Integrated LPDDR5X memory improves efficiency, lowers latency, and helps maintain consistent performance across sustained workloads.
It also reduces power consumption and allows a more compact internal layout for cooling and battery capacity.
Choose the platform that fits your work
Choose Intel Core Ultra for the highest-performance StarFighter configuration and the widest platform feature set. Choose AMD Ryzen for a straightforward, efficient AMD platform with strong sustained multi-core performance.
The most capable StarFighter configuration, pairing Core Ultra options with Thunderbolt 4 and the widest firmware and I/O feature set.
Choose this if you want the highest-performance StarFighter configuration.
A Ryzen-based StarFighter for users who prefer AMD hardware, efficient sustained performance, and a straightforward Linux platform.
Choose this if you want a capable AMD-based Linux workstation, not just the highest-spec option.
Both platforms run modern Linux distributions and are fully supported by Star Labs.
Flexible where it matters
Choose the processor, display, storage, keyboard, and firmware options that fit the way you work.
